 ‘Gender representation in video games is fair and balanced.’ How far do you agree with this view? Your answer should refer to Kim Kardashian Hollywood and Lara Croft Go


I disagree with the statement 

This is because in Lara croft go the main character was heavily sexualised and her clothes were very short and most of her body was revealed in the game.

In Kim kardashian Hollywood Kim herself was shown a sketch and she approved on how her character looks like.

Audience Effects Theory 1

  1) Write a definition of a   passive  audience:  This is the view that audiences  passively  take in information from the media and that these messages have the same effect on everyone.   2)  Write a definition of an  active  audience:  This is the more modern and generally accepted view that audiences  interact  with and make conscious choices regarding the media they consume. 3) Write a definition of the  hypodermic needle  theory:   This is the suggestion that audiences are always   passive  and therefore take the intended message from the producer as if it was injected into their minds. Preferred Reading-it looks delicious. It is because it looks thick and the colour so would make the consumer hungry/want to buy it. Oppositional Reading-if a consumer is a vegetarian or dislikes meat then they will not want this item. Negotiated Reading some consumers might have problems like be diabetic or over weight or blood pressure but they might be tempted to have the big mac.
